MODELING

There are a few key things you need to know about the way I shoot:

1) YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A MODEL TO MODEL!
I look for personality, first and foremost.
You don't have to be a model to be a good model.
You can be a movie star or 150 years old and wrinkled and still have personality!

I recognize the peer pressure that is directed at women in this society to be super critical of thier appearance -
but I see beauty in many things.
As a photographer, my goal is to find your beauty and reveal it.

People are like diamonds - they have many complex facets.
As you keep turning, more things are revealed.
Have a mole on your face?
Great, I can use it.
Feel a little overweight?
Fine - many of the most beautiful, artistic boudoir and nudes have been captured
using models who were not rail thin.

The key is to come as yourself, and let me extract more of you then you think you have.
I bet you'll be pleased and surprised at the results.

2) YOU DETERMINE THE PARAMETERS - I SHOOT WITHIN THEM.
YOU choose the parameters of the shoot and I shoot within them.
A high degree of comfort and trust is essential between model and photographer,
whether we're shooting headshots, outdoors, boudoir photos or nude.

3) PRE-MEETING:
I like to meet with my models beforehand to sketch out ideas, clothing, locations, mood, props, etc.
I brainstorm and conceptualize ideas quickly and toss out many ideas -
some you'll love, some you'll hate -
IN THE END, YOU CHOOSE WHAT YOU LIKE.
If you need help, I have a stockpile of ideas you can look at.

4) PLANNING VS. SPONTANEITY
As much as I like to plan, I also like to leave a good degree of every shoot to 'chance' -
great things happen when you do -
sometimes the things you like best!

I have access to a large number of photo locations, props, vintage & modern clothing shops.
I also have a small studio in my own apartment, which has great natural light, (and studio lights as well).
I love shooting live performers, athletes, nature, and local architecture & city scenes.
