MUSIC:

KEITH RUNFOLLA
Drummer
You can find Keith most nights at the Ritzy Ritz-Carlton Downtown,
playing with pianist Dan Lawrence and his trio.
Keith is skilled at a wide variety of styles,
knows when to play it soft and when to really give it the go.
Keith is a fan of vintage drums and has a great old Gretch set I'm very jealous of!
He is a great drummer with a very dry sense of humor.

PAT METHENY
Guitarist
Great musician/guitarist, an outspoken interviewee..

ANGELA MOTTER
Singer, songwriter, guitarist
One of my main complaints about modern pop songwriters is they don't study harmony,
then parade their ignorance like a virtue.
Not Angela. This girl can write - meaningful lyrics, melodies, harmonies, rhythms.
And she sings from the gut, where it counts.
Atlanta doesn't know what a treasure it has!

TIM DELANEY
Bassist, Engineer, Producer
Tim comes from the sunny state of Florida and a long musical family lineage.
His father and mother are music teachers at a Florida university.
His grandmother was a freelance classical bassist with various symphonies.
Tim played with the Dave Bass Quartet for 13 years.
He is as founding member of the pop group The Sightseers,
and frequently does shows with The Swimming Pool Q's.
He is a professional recording engineer by day
and involved in many of the fine pop rock projects that come out of Atlanta.

HENNA:
Marketa Sudkova is from the Czech Republic,
and has been doing face and body painting with natural, non-toxic henna for many years.
I'd never had henna done before, but within 5 minutes,
she had this cool design on my hand.

Black henna contains chemicals and inks that can blister, scar and cause long term damage -
only natural red-brown henna is safe on skin, which is what she uses.
The work she did on me lasted about 2 weeks.

NATURAL HEALTH:

NOW WE'RE INTO ONE OF MY PASSIONS!

Health and natural living are a big part of my life.
My quest for health over the years has led me to a number of
excellent practitioners in a variety of healing modalities.

What amazes me about the body is the sheer number of ways it can be accessed -
nutritional, muscular, electrical (nerve), structural, emotional, energetic.
There is more than one way to get to the bottom of something,
because the body is an amazing maze of overlapping 'systems'.

All of these are naturopathic non-invasive approaches,
(i.e. no cut, drug, or burn).
There is little knowledge of non'-allopathic' medicine in the U.S.,
so I put this out as a public service.
Feel free to ask me questions, if you like..

Most of these practitioners I have known for years;
I consider them to be among the finest available.

____________

MASSAGE:

There are massage therapists, and there are massage therapists.
I don't know about you, but I can't stand a wimpy massage.
Lisa Aspy is a ballbuster. Yep.
Want a massage that really moves some stuff?
Lisa is your man... er, woman.
Everyone I've sent to her comes back with glowing reports
and returns again and again.

CHIROPRACTIC:

Bob Dalton
Bob Dalton is one of the best structural chiropractors and kinesiologists I've ever been to.
Plus, his knowledge of herbs, yoga, and running is quite extensive.
Always friendly, always willing to give tips on how to improve posture & health.
His clients loooove him, and I am one of them!

____________

Alan Katz
I first met Alan Katz in 1993, when I moved to Virginia-Highlands.
He practices a style of chiropractic called 'Networking' -
a blend of energy work, breathwork, and chiropractic adjustment -
designed to remove stress, (mental, physical, chemical, emotional), before the adjustment.
The subjective experience can be freeing and cathartic.
This is where science meets the body and the soul.

____________

Leon Lashner
Leon practices work so deep and profound, I call him 'The Mind Reader'.
He began practicing the highly refined form of chiropractic called DNFT,
then added Applied Kinesiology, then Total Body Modification,
then came up with a system of diagnosis that uses kinesiology
to read not only physical but emotional causes of dis-ease.
It really works, and it's amazing.
The body knows, even when the conscious mind suppresses.

____________

NUTRITION:

Philip Mundhenk is a brain.
There's no other way to describe a guy
who can quote 50 studies on a supplement - pro and con - verbatim -
then sum it up for you in a sentence.
Unlike most doctors who study disease, (what goes wrong with the body),
Philip's focus is longevity, (what goes right with the body).
Philip was at Bill Stanton's Health Market for years,
and is currently available for private consultation.
(BTW - Bill Stanton has moved to Lawrenceville,
and is using a new diagnostic tool that is very interesting).

____________

STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION:

As someone who has been through two bad car accidents, I know about pain.
The effect of a saxophone around one's neck doesn't help, either.
There is a solution.
Marilyn Morrison practices Structural Integration,
the Rolf Method, (sometimes called 'Rolfing'),
developed by a brilliant woman named Ida Rolf.

Structural Integration re-aligns the body back to a state where it is happy with gravity -
ears over shoulders, shoulders over hips, hips over knees, knees over instep.
This is done by reshaping and balancing the muscles.
It's like a massage, but with no oil.
It can be intense - but well worth it!

It occurs over a 'series' of 10-12 sessions.
It is's amazing work that can increase your breathing capacity,
which in turn affects your oxygen intake and entire cellular biochemistry.
After my series, I gained a 1/2 on my height,
my neck returned over my shoulders
and my back pain substantially decreased.

Marilyn also teaches a form of yoga called 'Svaroopa',
and runs a multi-disciplinary healing complex that houses other practitioners.

____________

YOGA:

First, let's dispel some myths:
1) Yoga is not a religion. You don't have to accept any religious beliefs to do it.
2) You don't have to believe in reincarnation to do it
3) You don't have to shave your head or chant weird mantras

Yoga, in its simplest sense, is stretching and breathing.
Yoga, in it's literal sense, means 'unity' - oneness of mind, body, and spirit.

Since Metamorphosis closed and Debra Ellen Berry moved to Asheville,
I have yet to find an instructor I really love.
If you have suggestions, let me know.

____________

BREATHWORK:

Michael Casteel is a breathworker.
To put this much oxygen thru your body is amazing.
It will get you out of any rut you feel you're in -
better than a drug any day.

Michael coaches people thru rhythmic breathing.
You might think, 'Breathing... big deal!'
Stanislov Grof used breathwork as a substitute for LSD to map the subconscious -
that's how deep it gets.
It can clear blocked things, and the experience is very deep and beautiful.
I achieve beautiful, timeless states in my sessions,
and the effects stay with me for days.

FITNESS TRAINING:

There are trainers, and then there are intelligent, skilled trainers.
Andrew Johnston is a Physical Fitness Trainer par excellence,
and an Olympic athlete who's conscious about proper posture and form.

The thing I like about him is he tests your body for one whole session...
before you even see a set of weights.
He learns what's weak and what's strong, and customizes his training - to you.
It's not just about picking up a set of weights,
with is the difference between Neanderthal and excellent.
He has also been 'Rolfed', and studies nutrition and kinesiology.
Quite simply, he's at the top of his game.

THE POWER OF INTENTION:

For me, this is the most important spiritual lecture I've ever seen..
If I had one item to give someone towards a happier life, it would be this DVD.
(I give them out as presents).
Dr. Wayne Dyer put this show out on PBS,
so either donate to your local PBS station, or find a copy on eBay.
Or call me and we'll watch it together! -
